Complete#
The ‘complete’ database is the Macquarie Dictionary’s flagship database. It provides the content for the Macquarie Dictionary Online and the print edition of the Macquarie Dictionary. Smaller print editions such as the Concise and Compact are abridged versions of the database. It contains pronunciations in both IPA and Macquarie’s ‘say’ pronunciation format, usage notes, abbreviations, etymologies and encyclopedic information. It is updated 1-2 times per year with new words, new definitions and corrections.At this stage, the ‘complete’ database is the only one available in the Macquarie Dictionary API, however we are considering the inclusion of databases with alternative use-cases, such as school oriented dictionaries, as well as thesauruses.Modified at 2026-10-07 05:29:52
